What can an outstanding physicist feel when reading his own obituary in the press? Who really is the unpleasant level crossing attendant, Wiór, and where will the train going from the Topory station through the tiltle “Stub Track” take the protagonists?
As the rest of Stefan Grabiński’s novels from the “Demon ruchu” volume, “The Stub Track” too is a railway horror. Worth noting are mainly actors’ creations: Jan Koecher in the role of professor Edward Ryszpans and Jacek Woszczerowicz in the role of the demonic level crossing attendant, Wawrzyniec Wiór. Ryszard Bar’s film is a part of the “Opowieści niezwykłe” cycle; Grabiński’s prose was translated into the language of film by the author of the screenplay – Krzysztof Teodor Toeplitz.
