Jagna Dobesz comes from Wrocław, a sculptor by trade, she is a film production designer working in Poland and around the world. She collaborates with directors such as Magnus von Horn and Agnieszka Smoczyńska, and on international productions with, for example, the Argentinian director Agustina San Martín and Afghan director Aboozar Amini. Dobesz is the production designer for such films as: Fugue, Sweat, The Silent Twins and The Girl with the Needle. For Sweat she was awarded with the Silver Hugo at the 2020 Chicago IFF, and for The Silent Twins – at the 2022 Polish Film Festival in Gdynia. In 2024, The Girl with the Needle won her the European Film Award, another award at the PFF in Gdynia, and an Eagle in 2025. The film had its premiere as part of the Main Competition at the Cannes IFF and was nominated for the Academy Award.
