A wedding dance at the brink of tragedy, glasses burning in a bar, frightened people hiding in the sewers. Films of Andrzej Wajda guide us through Polish history – from Enlightenment, war and occupation, to the Polish People’s Republic – but it’s all about emotions, not dates, and life of a single character speaks to the experience of a whole generation. Director’s visions of the past, recorded in his filmography, will echo during Wajda – Music concert, selected scenes, woven into a visual essay, serving as a backdrop for live orchestra.
We will hear pieces composed by Wojciech Kilar, Andrzej Korzyński, Jan Krenz, Krzysztof Penderecki, Krzysztof Komeda or Andrzej Markowski as well as themes from Kanal, Ashes and Diamonds, The Wedding, Danton, down to Man of Marble, performed by Adam Sztaba Orchestra conducted by Adam Sztaba himself.
This concert is going to transport the audience to Poland erased from the maps. Into everyday life remembered by an older generation. What was forgotten will be brought back by the sounds of live instruments.
