‘Would you like to tell me something, son?’, the Father dared to ask. ‘I wished you were dead’, the Son told him. The Father, Adam Miauczyński (50), is a cultural expert and an alcoholic. For years now, he’s been sober and undergone treatment. The film begins when Adam asks his beloved Son Sylwester (20) what he wanted to ask him. The Son confesses that at the end of his Father’s drinking period, his Son wished he was dead and wanted to kill him. The boy tells him how did it come to that and what he remembers from their life together. It’s not much: only his Father’s drinking and his own fear. How drunk Adam constantly tried to leave his room and Sylwek’s Mother (Adam’s wife Beata) constantly pushed him back amidst fights and shouts. And so little Sylwuś was afraid to come back home and prayed that his father Adam was not outraged. How Adam pissed at his neighbors’s door, how Beata stabbed him with a knife and how Sylwuś, ashamed of his father, stayed at home instead of hanging out with other guys. Following his Son’s painful memories related to his Father’s drinking, Adam starts recollecting his own youth. Adam was equally afraid and ashamed of his father who also abused alcohol. As a boy he promised himself that he will be different to his own son. How wrong he was…
