Fransua Żako, guided by the Narrator and the Answering Machine, sets out to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum and recognizes his father’s name on one of the suitcases there. The truth hits him hard with incredible force, brings back recollections, situations, questions about the past. The whole life passes before the protagonist's eyes, his walk to the Museum becomes a journey through memory and the places where Fransua stops by. This way, a kind of mental map is created, woven from doubts, anxieties and hopes related to the opening of his father’s suitcase - his only memento.
