Telewizja Polska in co-operation with the director of photography Witold Stok digitally restored the film so the audience can appreciate it the way it premiered forty-five years ago. The world of anonymous workers – theatrical sewers, painters and model- makers. Romek Januchta goes to a secondary technical school specialising in theatre. He starts his career in a backstage sewing workshop. Contrary to his more experienced colleagues, he believes costume making contributes to the spectacle and is a form of artistic creation and not just a job to be done. But soon he realises there’s little theatrical magic to needle and thread.
