Poland, 1986. The priceless and worshiped silver sculpture of St Adalbert gets stolen from a famous cathedral. After a political murder of a well-known priest Jerzy Popieluszko the relationship between the State and the Church is extremely strained. Looking for a scapegoat, the chief of militia delegates the case to the not very experienced yet ambitious Andrzej Baran. Although the first 'success' and breakthrough come surprisingly fast, Andrzej starts his parallel secret investigation. An obsessive hypothesis will lead him to experience something much bigger than another political provocation.
