We meet the family at the end of the world, twenty years after the death of their first child, who suffered from seizures that caused paralysis. Whenever it happened, Jan drove the child to the doctor through the woods between their cottage and civilisation. One day, he didn’t make it. Now, they drift inertly, without joy or hope. They do, however, have a reason to live – another child, a thirteen-year-old boy. One evening, Jan causes a fight, and the history repeats itself. The boy suffers an epileptic seizure. They have to go.
