30-something Bogna has a husband busy with making career and an 8-year-old son. She also has some memories from childhood dominated by her mother who tried to raise her according to perversely mixed rules of Catholicism and Marxism. In her recollections, there is also a place for the evil ghost Stalin who supposedly haunted her in childhood. When her husband is gone on a longer business trip, Bogna learns about her mother’s death. The funeral doesn’t make her sad. On the contrary, she feels free, brave and finally mature. Still leading an imaginary dialogue with her mother, she flings herself into the world of erotic experience important to her both sexually and existentially. Bogna has only one goal: to become a woman in every way and prove to herself that can do it. When she wins this game, she can smile triumphantly feminine.
