This slogan has welcomed visitors to the PFF for many years. The city’s strong ties with cinema date back to the Festival’s move from Gdańsk to Gdynia in 1987, culminating in 2021 with Gdynia’s admission to the UNESCO Creative Cities Network as a City of Film.
The discussion following the screening of Jan Batory’s crime thriller *The Last Ride* aims to examine the extent to which the slogan is backed up by substance. Alongside the Festival, the Gdynia Film School, the Gdynia Film Centre and smaller organisations are active here. Is Gdynia really the ‘Polish Cannes’, and has film become a permanent part of its identity?
The event is part of the ‘Films from Gdynia’ section.
