A Wild Spring Break
Krzysztof Rogulski
1981, 1 h 26 minA teenage runaway from a children’s home and a wanderer-mythomaniac expelled from a volunteer fire brigade let themselves into the whirl of the night life of Warsaw. For stolen money, for a couple of days they try to forget about life worries and to feel their worth at least for a while.
A musical film taken seriously. The Polish answer to Saturday Night Fever by John Badham. An escape from a children’s home, sleeping in the middle of nowhere and at the Central Station, drugs, debauchery houses, shady deals and pointlessly spent money from frauding meat in a desperate attempt to escape from the gray reality and Polish hopelessness of the early 80s. Great music by Maanam and a debuting, teenage Zbigniew Zamachowski in the most surprising musical film of the Polish People’s Republic.
