Krzysztof Zanussi is a director, producer, screenwriter, essayist and philosopher. He was awarded at numerous international festivals, including Cannes, Venice, Locarno, Moscow, Chicago, Montreal, Berlin and Tokyo. He also directs theatre plays performed all over the world and he is a book author. Zanussi holds honorary doctorates from many prestigious universities, he is a professor at the University of Silesia in Katowice and he lectures in various countries. In the years 1979–2019 he was the Director of the Tor Film Studio, which at that time produced films by such directors as Krzysztof Kieślowski and Agnieszka Holland. He is a creator of auteur cinema and applies a unique cinematic language, most pronounced in his works such as The Structure of Crystal, The Illumination and Camouflage.
