The Perspectives Competition at the 51st Polish Film Festival in Gdynia – Polish Film Festival

Eight films have been selected for the Perspectives Competition – seven of them are feature-length debuts, whilst one is the director’s second film.

As Joanna Łapińska says: “The eight films from the Perspectives section announced today round off the competition selection. And now we can talk in greater detail about new Polish cinema in this year’s PFF programme. What do the films from the Perspectives section bring to this edition? Definitely youth, stylistic distinctiveness and courage.”

Films in the Perspectives Competition will be in the running for the Sapphire Lions statuette and a cash prize of PLN 50,000 (30,000 for the director and 20,000 for the producer). The Competition Jury will also select the winner of the award for an outstanding artistic contribution to the film. The prize is worth PLN 15,000, and this award is reserved for representatives of all film professions other than directors and producers, who are already eligible for the Sapphire Lions.

In addition, films in the Perspectives Competition are in the running for two other Festival awards: the award for a director’s debut or second film, and the ‘Golden Claw’, which are awarded jointly with the Main Competition.

The 51^st Polish Film Festival will take place from 21^st to 26^th September 2026 in Gdynia. The festival is organised by the Pomeranian Film Foundation in Gdynia.
