During their holidays in the Masurian countryside teenage Nina and her younger non-binary sibling Miki are spending time with their father they have not seen in a long time who is trying to reconnect with them. Overshadowed by family tensions, things left unsaid and difficult attempts at closeness, questions of identity and one’s own place in the world emerge. Liquid States is an intimate story about growing up – a moment suspended between childhood and adulthood where everything is constantly transforming.
The film is the director’s feature-length debut.
