Based on a story by Jan Józef Szczepański, “Wszarz” (Louse), the action takes place away from the main events of the war. It is November 1944. A group of guerillas with forged documents go out of the woods and go to “the den”. While they take pictures for the forged documents in the backyard of one of the farms, they are being observed by a wandering supplicatory beggar. After returning to the squad, somebody throws a suspicion that the man may be working for the Germans. The guerillas organize a provocation, dressing up in German uniforms. The man dies. The judgment will be executed by the weakest guy, the most frustrated by his low position in the group. The guerrillas, writing a report on the event, will have trouble with determining the actual fault of the slain.
