A story about the relationship between Thomas Mann, the Nobel Prize in Literature laureate, and his daughter Erika, actress and writer. The plot is set during the height of the Cold War. In a black Buick, father and daughter embark on a difficult and very emotional journey across a devastated Germany – from US-controlled Frankfurt to Weimar remaining under Soviet influence. For the first time since the end of the war, Mann returns to his fatherland, having previously made the difficult decision to emigrate to the United States.
